Privacy Policy
Last updated: 31 August 2026
This policy explains what personal data Parlons Français Daily collects when you visit this website or buy one of our study guides, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it.
The short version. This website sets no advertising or tracking cookies, and it does not sell or share your data with advertisers. We use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics to count page views. If you buy a guide, our store provider Payhip collects the details needed to take payment and deliver your file.
1. Who we are
Parlons Français Daily publishes French language study guides as downloadable PDFs. The person responsible for your personal data — the data controller, or "data fiduciary" under Indian law — is:
- Name: Parlons Français Daily
- Address: Paldi, Ahmedabad, India
- Country of establishment: India
- Contact: bonjour@parlonsfrancaisdaily.com
We are based in India and sell to readers around the world. Because we offer our guides to buyers in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies to that processing as well as India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. This policy is written to meet both.
2. What we collect
When you browse this website
We do not ask you for any personal information to read this site. Our hosting provider and our analytics provider automatically process a limited amount of technical data:
- Server logs — your IP address, the pages requested, timestamps, and your browser's user-agent string. These are generated by our host (Vercel) and used to serve the site and to detect abuse.
- Aggregate analytics — page views, referring site, approximate country, device type and browser. This is collected by Vercel Web Analytics, which does not use cookies, does not store an identifier on your device, and does not track you across other websites.
We do not build advertising profiles, and we do not attempt to identify individual visitors from this data.
When you buy a guide
Purchases are not processed on this website. Clicking a buy or download button takes you to our storefront on Payhip, at shop.parlonsfrancaisdaily.com. Payhip collects and processes:
- your name and email address, so your download can be delivered;
- your payment details, which are handled by Payhip's payment processors — we never see or store your full card number;
- your billing country and, where applicable, your VAT number, which are needed to charge the correct rate of VAT on digital goods;
- your order history and download activity.
We receive the resulting order records (your name, email, what you bought and when) through our Payhip seller account. Payhip's own handling of your data is governed by Payhip's privacy policy.
When you email us
If you write to bonjour@parlonsfrancaisdaily.com we receive your email address, your message, and anything else you choose to include. Mail sent to that address is forwarded to our own inbox by our domain registrar.
3. Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To deliver what you bought — processing your order, sending your download and dealing with any problem with it. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
- To answer your messages — replying to questions and support requests. Legal basis: legitimate interests (responding to people who contact us), or performance of a contract where it concerns an order.
- To keep the site working and secure — serving pages, diagnosing faults, preventing abuse. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
- To understand what is useful — aggregate, non-identifying statistics about which pages get read. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
- To meet our legal duties — keeping records of sales and VAT for the period tax law requires. Legal basis: legal obligation.
We do not send marketing email, and we do not add you to a mailing list when you buy.
4. Cookies and local storage
This website sets no cookies of its own. There are no advertising, marketing or cross-site tracking cookies, and no consent banner is needed for the pages on this domain.
The site does use one small piece of session storage in your browser, under the key bundle-dismissed. It records only that you closed the bundle offer bar on mobile, so it is not shown to you again. It contains no personal data, never leaves your device, is not readable by any other website, and is erased when you close the tab. You can clear it at any time through your browser's settings.
Web fonts are served from this domain rather than from a third-party font network, so simply loading a page does not disclose your IP address to Google or any other font provider.
Our storefront on shop.parlonsfrancaisdaily.com is operated by Payhip and does use cookies that are necessary for checkout to work. Those are described in Payhip's own policy.
5. Who we share data with
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for advertising. We rely on a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf:
- Payhip — storefront, checkout, payment and file delivery.
- Vercel — website hosting, content delivery and cookieless analytics.
- Namecheap — domain registration and email forwarding for our contact address.
We may also disclose information where we are legally required to do so, or where it is necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
6. How long we keep it
- Order and VAT records — for as long as tax law requires us to keep them, which is typically six to ten years depending on the country.
- Email correspondence — normally up to 24 months after your query is resolved.
- Server logs — retained for a short period by our host, on their standard schedule.
- Analytics — kept only in aggregate form, with no record identifying an individual visitor.
7. International transfers
We operate from India, so order records we hold are processed there. Our providers are based principally in the United States and the European Union, so your data is also processed in those countries.
Where we handle data about customers in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, transfers out of those regions rely on the safeguards our providers have put in place, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum. You can ask us for more detail using the contact address below.
8. Your rights
If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area, you have the right to:
- ask what personal data we hold about you, and get a copy of it;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- ask us to erase your data, where we have no overriding reason to keep it;
- ask us to restrict how we use it;
- receive the data you gave us in a portable, machine-readable format;
- object to processing we carry out on the basis of legitimate interests;
- withdraw consent at any time, where we relied on consent.
To exercise any of these, email bonjour@parlonsfrancaisdaily.com. We will respond within one month. There is no charge.
If you are in India
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you have the right to ask what data we hold and how we have used it, to have it corrected or completed, to have it erased, to nominate someone to exercise your rights if you die or become incapacitated, and to have a grievance addressed. Send any of these to bonjour@parlonsfrancaisdaily.com, which is also our grievance redressal contact.
Making a complaint
Please raise it with us first — we would rather fix it. If you are still unhappy, you can complain to the relevant regulator: in India, the Data Protection Board of India; in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office; in the EEA, the supervisory authority for the country you live in.
9. Children
This website and our guides are intended for adults and older learners. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page always shows when it was last changed. If we make a significant change to how we use your data, we will make that clear on this page.
11. Contact us
